Our core purpose is to help very disadvantaged people and communities with complex needs to improve their lives. We use informal learning and mentoring to build confidence and skills, and help people find solutions to their problems.
Our specialism is working in the most challenging circumstances, providing services which are carefully tailored to the situations of disadvantaged people and communities. We are experts at working with those who find it most difficult to sustain engagement, providing intensive support which enables people to make sustainable changes that have a positive long-term impact on their lives.

Services and activities
We fulfil our core purpose by providing the following services and activities:
- Learning and skills: including basic skills, ICT, volunteering, basic vocational qualifications, and family learning.
- Employment support: short employability skills programmes, including ICT based employment activities, provided either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
- Mentoring: Helping people to learn about themselves and how to overcome challenges, to improve their lives.
We have a strong reputation amongst commissioners and funders for delivering quality services.
The feedback we receive from commissioners for our existing services is excellent. Our services are carefully tailored to the circumstances of disadvantaged people and communities. They are usually community based, often 1:1 and extremely flexible. We are successful with those who are hardest to achieve sustained engagement with due to our responsive and supportive approach. We are not classroom-based; we are based where our clients are.
